Monday, April 12, 2010
Official Launch
12:00 – 1:00pm - The Confederation Building
Ruckus on the Edge kicks off with our official launch at the Confederation Building. The excitement continues during lunch hour when local musicians will break out into performances all over the city. Day one of Ruckus on the Edge concludes with a duo of stirring performances at two of the City’s best music venues.

Soulful performances by Newfoundland and Labrador's top Gospel singers will thrill you during Gospel Night at Cochrane St. United Church. Performers include Gary French, Dan Bursey, Wendy Woodland, Mark House and David Chafe.
Classical Composer Showcase
8:00 - 10:00 pm -Petro Canada Music Hall - $15
The Classical Composer Showcase will feature JUNO Award nominated classical compositions performed by talented chamber musicians from St. John’s and the surrounding areas. Performers include Duo Concertante, Ora Ensemble, MUN CHamber Choir, Jane Leibel, Karen Bulmer and Maureen Volk.

Ruckus in the Round: Songs from the Edge

Day two of Ruckus on the Edge continues with a songwriters’ circle style event at the Delta Hotel St. John’s. Join us as homegrown musicians share their songs and the stories behind them. Performers include Maureen Ennis, Mike MacDonald, Harry Martin, Ron Hynes, Sherman Downey, Terry Penney, Karla Pilgrim, and Amelia Curran.
Music Our Way – On the Edge
9:00am – 3:00pm - Schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador
On Tuesday, April 13 Ruckus on the Edge will bring our celebration of Newfoundland and Labrador music to five schools throughout the Province. Music Our Way – On the Edge is a concert and workshop series for school children that will complement the existing music education curriculum. Students in each school district will enjoy a morning concert presented in the host school. In addition, interactive workshops will be facilitated by the visiting artists and sound technicians.

Our Music – Our Heritage

On day three of Ruckus on the Edge, we will showcase the best world music our province has to offer with Our Music – Our Heritage. Aboriginal, Francophone and World performers from Newfoundland and Labrador will celebrate the roots of our community. Performers include Shanneyganock, The Navigators, The Once, Harry Martin & Rich Neville, Daniel Payne, Tzu-Hao Hsu, and a special screening of Vive La Rose.
Thursday, April 15
Rock Night Blast Off
8:00pm -11:00pm - The Delta Hotel St. John's - $20
Ruckus on the Edge culminates with a rocking opening for 2010 JUNO Weekend. On Rock Night Blast Off the best from the local rock scene will perform, setting the stage for a JUNO Week Canada will be talking about for years to come. Performers include Hey Rosetta!, the Idlers and the Novaks.
Jazz and Blues Night
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm - The Majestic Theatre - $20
Jazz and Blues Night – The hottest jazz and the coolest blues will be found at the Majestic Theatre on the evening of Thursday, April 15th. The best jazz and blues musicians in the province will be showcasing their talent from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Performers include; Bill Brennan Band with guests Jeff Dyer and Katie Hopkins, the Duane Andrews Quartet, and Denis Parker and the Rowdy Blues.

JUNO Awards Weekend kicks off with a celebrity fundraising hockey game in support of MusiCounts, CARAS’ music education program. NHL Greats and Canadian musicians face off in a fun, competitive, non-contact hockey game.

Juno Fan Fare is an all-ages event packed with autograph sessions, interviews and prize giveaways, giving the fans a chance to get closer to their favourite artists. JUNO Award nominees participate in this FREE live and interactive afternoon.

Songwriters' Circle

Select JUNO Award nominees come together on stage at the St. John’s Arts & Culture Centre for an intimate afternoon performance of songs and stories. Proceeds from Songwriters’ Circle benefit MusiCounts.

Sunday night is the grand finale to a spectacular week of Canadian music in St. John’s.
